It’s summer so the only thing to talk about

is the weather. At 2:30pm the temp is 91°F (32.7778C), humidity is 44%, down from 73% this morning. In this part of the world the high temps hit around 4 in the afternoon, so we have some ways to go yet.  The a/c has been on since 10am.

It’s been raining for about a year and half now, and in some parts of the world people would read that and just shrug their shoulders “so what…”, in other parts of the world people might read that and say “You are so lucky, send some rain out way”. Everything is relative.

As I’ve said before, our apartment faces West, therefore the heat of the day, and the most sunlight hit our apartment at approximately the same time. But that also means the apartment is shaded during the coolest part of the day, the mornings, and most summer days I can have the windows open for a good portion of the time – which is !wonderful! (See, I have an upside for almost every downside.)

Summers here are hot, humid, rainy, cool, damp/chilly – basically disgusting. Have I ever told you I hate the Summer? I did? Well, you will hear it a lot for the next few months.

Since today is Sunday it is also pizza day Yay! When my husband calls the pizza place the conversation goes like this:

Husband: Hi, I’d like to have a pizza delivered, please
Pizza Place: The usual?
Husband: Yes, and I’ll pay cash.

And that’s how exciting my life is…

  1. It’s fun having a “usual.” I’ve had that twice before. One was a coffee shop I went to a lot, and the other was a pub I went to for a couple of years for weekly get-togethers with a friend.

  2. Grace, I’m with you about summer, I can’t stand it. Summer is truly my least favorite season. I know that the majority of people LOVE, LOVE, LOVE summer. But not me. Heat does to me what cold does to other people. Heat makes my entire body ache in pain.

The one upside to summer for me is fresh produce and making delicious salads. But that’s about it.

It’s already been in the high 90’s with 75% humidity. OVER it 😦

  3. J goes to one particular Mexican restaurant fairly frequently but he doesn’t have a ‘usual’. Pretty close but there is a bit of variety so G having a usual pizza and they know it strikes me as funny! What would happen if you asked him to change it up some Sunday?

I was thinking of visiting my parents sometime in summer but the thought of going to hot and humid Kansas or hotter than hell Las Vegas is so far preventing that.

We’re finally getting a teeny bit of rain here in Oregon this week but we’re so far behind the fear is another wildfire like last year where we couldn’t go outside for a week.

    1. We’ve been getting a lot of rain for quite sometime now and I don’t mind the rain at all. I LIKE rain, I find it comforting and soothing. What I do not like is having windows closed – I need AIR!

    1. Climate change deniers really irk my soul – it’s here, it’s real. Whenever we move the first thing I check out is the pizza places – one must keep one’s priorities straight.

    1. I don’t have actual recipes for the food I prepare on a day to day basis, any recipes I might have ever posted are for deserts – deserts have recipes, everything else is – just throw it in a pot!
